I like the general concern about skeumorphism here and the examples are great. And it's certainly fascinating how much pointless repetition of petrol car features you see on EVs, including the scale of grilles at the front sometimes.

But... I've yet to see a good argument for an alternative on the charging. The battery swapping would give far less flexibility and be more costly and risky than the current ability to charge *anywhere* off a normal plug socket, if it's needed. It would create a greater reliance on petrol stations when many users are happy they don't need to visit them any more.

The location of the plug socket initially seemed skeumorphic, but I've not seen Renault owners gain a great advantage from charging from a socket under the front logo (it's actually more problematic for them at places better suited for reverse parking, I think). When you then start to think through alternative locations (like back centre) you realise that you end up obstructing your ability to unload the trunk (or get passengers out) in many other locations.
